Snow Day!

The long awaited snow day of 2013 finally arrived!

Sadly, Sarah Mei and AnnaGrace were with Phil in Hardeeville, but Isabelle and Lily Rose enjoyed every minute of it!

They made snow angels...

and tried sledding.

And when the sleds did not go fast enough, Torie obliged and hooked up our 30 year old Paint mare to the sled and coaxed the horse to be the engine.  The little girls REALLY loved that!

(Just a footnote...don't EVER ride a horse without a helmet.  In the excitement of the snow, we all forgot.)

While the girls, the horses and the dog played in the snow, our cats stayed dry on the front porch.

This was Lily Rose's first snowfall since joining our family.  Her eyes absolutely sparkled when she saw the flakes.  The wonder of it all!

Seeing "first's" through my girls' eyes is always a little bittersweet.  It  makes me heartsick for the 540,000 waiting orphans in China.

A fellow "heart mom" just told me about Lainey with Holt.  She is a single ventricle "heart" baby like our girls.  You can read more about her at this link http://www.holtinternational.org/cgi/photolisting/display12.cgi?ID=Lainey&Index_re=0 .

Here's an updated photo of her:

She needs a chance at life, at having a mom and dad to tuck her into bed at night, and a chance to see her first snow.  E-mail me (elainechorton@yahoo.com) if you want more information on little Lainey or call Holt International directly.

Only 12 days until we board the plane to meet Savannah Faith.  Here's the latest picture we received of her.  She's standing up on her own now!  She looks quite proud of herself.

Jesus with "skin on" & Daisy (aka - Lainey) is Fully Funded

Recently I was just having a few hard weeks.  You know weeks when you feel all alone.  Our budget was extra tight.  Left-over medical bills and adoption loans.  No one seemed to understand.  Okay, maybe I was just having a bit of a pity-party, but I was in need of seeing Jesus with "some skin-on".  You know what I mean??

Then I got a most unexpected phone call.  A sweet friend, that I haven't talked with in several years other than a random FB post or e-mail, called and and asked if she could bless us by buying our girls some dresses for the spring/summer season.  Ahem...I was speechless.  Humbled.  Amazed.

Elizabeth you were truly Jesus, to me, "with skin-on".  Thanks for being obedient to His Spirit and for giving sacrificially to bless our family!!

I LOVE the dresses!!

And on another note...a special thanks to all of you who donated to Daisy's (aka - Lainey's) heart cath fund.  She is fully funded and should be having her heart cath in China in the next week or two.  Please pray for God's hand of protection on Lainey and for His guiding hand for the Dr.'s as they perform this delicate procedure.

Here is a photo of sweet Lainey from last year.  Despite the low quality of the photo, you can see how blue she is.  Keep praying for an adoptive family to step forward for this sweet little 5 year old girl.  She's been waiting for over a year for a family to call her own!

Help for Daisy (Lainey)...

As some of you know, I've been desperately advocating for a sweet little 5 year old girl waiting in China.  "Daisy" has been waiting for a family for over a year, but because of her complex heart condition and the fact that physicians in China said she was inoperable, no family has stepped forward to bring this little one home.

She's just like another little girl that was said to be inoperable....

and here we are today...

I want this chance for Miss Daisy!!

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Love Without Boundaries and an amazing cardio-thoracic surgeon in Shanghai, Miss Daisy (aka Lainey) just might have this chance now!  Despite the fact that she is literally growing weaker by the day, they have scheduled the 1st step in what we hope will be a road to her first heart surgery and to finding a forever family - a heart cath.

We just need to raise the $2,900 to pay for it.  Would you please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation of ANY size at this link

http://www.lovewithoutboundaries.com/programs/medical/sponsor-a-child/m.children/223/view/467

Daisy is listed as Lainey on the LWB site and she needs our help!

I'll keep you updated on her heart cath results and the next step in the journey for this sweet little girl.

And most importantly please pray for Daisy (Lainey)...that she will know the love of Christ!!
